Zaxby’s Flagship

Founded in 1990 by Zach McLeroy and Tony Townley near Georgia Southern University, Zaxby’s returned to its original roots with a new flagship location at 1605 Chandler Road in Statesboro, just steps from where the first restaurant opened. C. Merrill Construction was proud to build this important project for corporate Zaxby’s, delivering the prototype store that would serve as the model for all future locations nationwide. The project included site work and new construction utilizing a combination of steel and wood framing.
Throughout the process, C. Merrill Construction worked closely with Zaxby’s to remodel and reorganize the kitchen and dining spaces multiple times, ensuring the facility met the brand’s high standards for efficiency and customer experience. This flagship store represents not only a significant milestone for Zaxby’s but also a meaningful connection to the rich history of Statesboro and Georgia Southern University.
